Excerpt from @miyaLovesCycling 'Cycling to Thailand'

The National Day holiday is finally here!!! First of all, I wish our great motherland a happy holiday, throwing flowers~

Taking advantage of this holiday, are you planning to go on a long-distance cycling trip like the cycling hero? Whether it's around your city, cycling around Hainan Island, around Qinghai Lake, or like @miyaLovesCycling, choosing to cycle in Southeast Asia, make sure to bring the necessary items. Today, let's review the essential items for long-distance cycling with miya~

These items are based on my personal experience cycling in Southeast Asia. It's normal if they differ from yours because no two people will have exactly the same needs.

Basic equipment:

-Mountain bike, above 1000, depending on personal budget, you can also buy a second-hand one;
-Helmet, must use, your safety is in your own hands, don't neglect your life;
-Cycling glasses, Southeast Asia is particularly hot, and the road ahead is very bright, bring a pair of high-definition sunglasses; (those planning to go to Hainan must remember to bring glasses!)
-Sun hat, bring one, it's really sunny!!!
-Arm sleeves, leg sleeves, bring them if you don't want to get sunburned. I didn't bring them because I wanted to get tanned, I used sunscreen lotion;
-Half-finger gloves, two pairs to alternate

Bag equipment:
-Panniers, medium or small size is fine, buy a large one to hold more, but it's too heavy
-Front bag, can be used to hold mobile phones and some small items, easy to access
-Rain cover, rainproof, also prevents theft, yellow is very conspicuous
-Waist bag, mainly used to hold personal items
-Waterproof bag, essential for swimming, the coastline is very long, have fun~

Bike equipment:
-Flashlight, you will inevitably need it, very useful when setting up a tent or going to the toilet
-Tail light, needed at night
-Water bottle holder, two plastic ones are fine, no need to bring a water bottle, just buy mineral water along the way. If you want hot water, put the mineral water on the pannier and let it sit in the sun for a while. If you want tea, put some tea leaves in the mineral water and continue to let it sit in the sun, absolutely hot tea.
-Rack, steel rack, although heavy, you won't need to replace it again, a magic tool for cycling in Sichuan and Tibet, hasn't broken yet
-Odometer, to check mileage, control speed, and estimate arrival time
-Compass, not heavy, very convenient to hang one

Tools and spare parts:
-Hex screwdriver, no need to buy a Decathlon set, too heavy, see how many screws your bike has and which ones you need, just bring those;
-Pump, ground pump, don't buy those cute hand-held ones, they just take up space, throw them away;
-Inner tube, one, the roads in Southeast Asia are excellent. If you get a flat tire, you can replace it directly and repair it at your accommodation;
-Tire repair kit, tire lever + tire repair kit + file + glue (essential for cycling)
-Brake repair tools, see what your bike needs
-Shift/brake cables, they get sluggish after getting wet, and frequent adjustments can cause them to break, essential for replacement;
-Straps, bring two with hooks on both ends, flat ones are fine, very useful, can tie panniers and clothes;
-Chain oil, skincare for bicycles, essential when the bike encounters water;
-Chain breaker, bring two for a team;
-Screws, see what screws and nuts your bike needs, bring some spares

Clothing:
-Skin jacket, very light, windproof, and light rainproof;
-Quick-dry short sleeves, sweat-absorbing and wicking, don't be too expensive;
-Underwear, bras, socks, several pairs;
-Sports shoes, some people also bring a pair of sports sandals, I personally think it's really unsafe to climb mountains in sports sandals, if your feet sweat in summer and you slip, it won't be good
-Slippers, for bathing and walking around

Living items:
-Toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, a bar of soap (for both laundry and bathing), shampoo can be in sachets, light and space-saving;
-Skincare products, sunscreen; toilet paper.

Camping equipment:Single tent, moisture-proof mat. No need to bring a sleeping bag, it's too hot!!!

Documents:Passport, visa, ID card, cash, US dollars, UnionPay card. Guidebook. 2-inch visa photos;

Electronic devices:Camera (a DSLR is really heavy, I really recommend a compact camera), memory card, mobile phone, charger, power strip;

MedicineFor fever, diarrhea, cold, anti-inflammatory, Yunnan Baiyao spray, electric mosquito repellent (essential for staying in hotels), mosquito coils (light for half an hour after setting up the tent).

Finally, I wish everyone a happy holiday and a smooth ride. Remember to post more in your sports circle, show the beautiful scenery you see, the delicious food you eat, and the beautiful people you meet~
