easy to wear, quick to wash, ready to go!

The first time I heard about Codoon was in 2015 when I was just getting into running. My senior recommended this app to me. But at that time, I was using Nike Running+, so I didn't switch. Until early 2017, when Nike Running+ was revamped into Nike+ Run Club, I felt very uncomfortable using it after a while, so I thought about switching to another app. I remembered my senior's recommendation and downloaded Codoon, thus joining the wave of Codoon users. Actually, I had been paying attention to Codoon since they released their first smart running shoes, but I had a few other pairs of running shoes at the time, so I didn't buy them. However, I was always very interested in the running posture analysis of smart running shoes, wondering if my running posture was incorrect and wanting to know. With this curiosity, time slowly passed, Codoon released the second generation of smart running shoes, and then came the walking shoes. This time, I saw an activity posted by Xiao Dang in the sports circle and casually joined because I am not a running circle expert, so I didn't have much hope. Unexpectedly, I was lucky enough to be selected for the four-person review list. It was truly 'happiness knocking on my door.' In short, I am very grateful for Xiao Dang's trust and hope that this report can provide some reference for Codoon friends in choosing Codoon walking shoes and offer some positive feedback for the development of the next generation of Codoon walking shoes. Without further ado, let's take a look at the performance of the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01.

1. Appearance and Details

Skipping the unboxing, let's get straight to the point.

The items in the shoe box include a pair of Codoon Smart Walking Shoes with shoe supports (available in Relaxed White, Cool Black, and Steady Gray; mine is Steady Gray), a smart chip, a pry tool, and a manual. Actually, the smart chip can be easily removed after being placed in the chip slot inside the shoe, but they thoughtfully included a pry tool.

The chip combination's outer packaging is Codoon Green, vibrant and full of life.

The detailed manual is concise, including chip binding and operation steps, performance parameters, and precautions.

Additionally, there is a quick manual, which allows you to quickly download the Codoon app by scanning a QR code. The back of the quick manual introduces two major benefits: earning red envelopes by running and earning red envelopes by referring friends to purchase. For example, on the first day of my experience, I received a 1 yuan red envelope, which can be withdrawn once it reaches 10 yuan, making me feel like I'm speeding up my journey to the pinnacle of life.

After discussing the details, let's return to the smart walking shoes themselves. Let's start with a three-shot selfie.

Compared to the first-generation walking shoes LR01, the new generation walking shoes LT01 have abandoned laces and hard patches, reducing the overall weight of the shoes while achieving two things: easy wear for lazy people, just slip them on and go; and easy cleaning for lazy people, machine washable (if it were LR01, machine washing might damage the hard patches and pull the laces). Low weight, no need to tie laces, no need to brush shoes, the unification of these three functions is a blessing for countless lazy men and women in China.

Let's take a closer look at the various parts of the walking shoes.

They feature a popular anti-collision toe cap, effectively protecting the toes (proven in tests).

Divided by a dashed line, the left side of the knit upper is sparser than the right side, providing better elasticity to accommodate the bending in this area when walking and catering to high-arched Codoon friends.

The mesh upper is surrounded by the Codoon series shoe logo - ∞, representing infinity, endlessness, and perpetuity (the red fluorescent strip is my own addition). It is said that the upper with ten thousand holes indeed has good breathability in tests, and its microporous breathability also provides dust resistance, similar to Kailas' FILTERTEC fabric (though its waterproof performance may not be as good as Kailas').

The upper tightening abandons laces and uses elastic bands, and the shoe last itself is narrow, so it can achieve a good fit after wearing.

The edge of the shoe last is more tightly woven to prevent loose threads from affecting the shoe structure.

Although positioned as 'light' and 'thin,' basic support is still necessary. The patch around the heel is not as hard as TPU but can still support the heel. Also, because it is not very hard, it can achieve the effect of stepping down the entire heel to wear as slippers.

The sole no longer uses a large outsole but an integrated PHYLON EVA (obtained by reheating plastic particles, foaming, molding, pressing, and cooling), which is lightweight, elastic, and soft.

The sole has three-dimensional stripe patterns, increasing friction with the ground, enhancing anti-slip performance, and balancing force distribution through zoning, making it more comfortable and agile to wear.

The insole of the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes is very thick, enhancing shock absorption, with embedded deodorant particles on the back. The mesh surface has good anti-slip effects (tested during running, the feet do not shift).

After looking at the appearance of the walking shoes, let's put the smart chip into the chip slot.

The chip slot is in the left shoe of the walking shoes, and placing the chip is very easy. After placing it, just put the insole back.

2. Hands-on Play

The mesh upper is very soft and deforms easily when pressed without the support of the instep. Therefore, if you wear walking shoes for running, you need to be cautious because the upper's support may be limited. Of course, Codoon has other running shoes to choose from, so you don't have to force the issue.

The support of the shoe back is also like this, suitable for stepping down to wear as slippers.

The sole is very soft and deforms significantly when pressed.

3. On-foot Testing

Whether the shoes are comfortable, the feet know better than anyone. The on-foot testing of the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01 includes a 10-kilometer run and about 28 kilometers of walking, totaling 38.57 kilometers.

On-foot. The on-foot feeling is good, the appearance is quite fashionable, and it is comfortable and healthy. I usually wear size 43 running shoes, and I chose size 43 this time as well, but it turned out to be half a size too big. So Codoon friends can choose half a size smaller, which should be more suitable. However, because the shoe shape is narrow, it can still be worn normally (later tested during running, the shoes fit the feet quite well).

Walking. Taking the 28 kilometers of walking as an example.

Once I started walking, the foot feeling was good. Just walking, the foot feeling was better than Adidas Falcon Elite 5. Rarely did I focus on the shoes rather than the walking itself after putting them on. Initially, the instep might rub a bit, but after walking for a while, the discomfort diminishes.

In the data analysis, besides the functions of the Codoon app itself, it also includes parameters such as gait, average ground contact time, cushioning force, and average speed. These data can help judge whether your walking posture is correct. Of course, compared to running, walking posture is generally more normal. For someone like me who usually walks with a swagger, my walking posture turned out to be basically correct (only 2% foot eversion), which surprised me.

Running. A 10-kilometer run.

Although the shoe size was a bit big, the overall fit was good, and the feet didn't move around inside the shoes. The walking shoes felt very light on the feet, making running easy, and I couldn't help but run at a faster pace than usual. However, towards the end, I could clearly feel the impact on my knees, and even experienced discomfort in the gluteal muscles. Therefore, walking shoes are not recommended for running.

Content analysis includes not only the Codoon app's own parameters such as distance, time, and calories but also the smart chip's analysis of landing ratio (forefoot, rearfoot, and full-foot landing) and gait ratio (foot inversion, foot eversion, and normal gait). By analyzing these parameters, you can judge your running posture and make targeted adjustments to reduce the risk of injury.

Self-torture experiment.Because I accidentally kicked a cobblestone while running and was unscathed, I became interested in the anti-collision toe cap of the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes. The next day, I specifically found a stone to kick around.

Although the anti-collision toe cap doesn't look very high, it functions well, and kicking small stones is more than enough, which undoubtedly enhances its adaptability to different road conditions.

Wear resistance. After using them for nearly 40 kilometers, I thought it was time to judge the wear resistance of the walking shoes, so I compared the soles before and after wearing them.

I found no obvious wear, indicating that the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01 have good wear resistance.

4. Summary

From my personal experience wearing the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01, I believe it has the following advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

1. The sole is very soft, anti-slip, wear-resistant, and reliable, with good breathability;

2. The design is nice, fashionable, and elegant;

3. High cost-performance ratio.

Disadvantages:

1. The instep may rub.

Overall, I believe the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01 are suitable for daily walking needs. The elasticity, anti-slip, wear resistance, and comfort functions commonly used in walking are well implemented. Currently, they are priced at 179 yuan on JD.com (during specific time periods, you can even get them for 149 yuan with a coupon). In today's society, this is a price where 'you won't be cheated or taken advantage of.' Moreover, the interactive functions with the Codoon app make the shoes more versatile. Besides walking, you can earn red envelopes, take courses, and the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes not only serve as shoes but also as a teacher.

These are my experiences with the Codoon Smart Walking Shoes LT01. Any mistakes or omissions, please feel free to criticize and correct.
