jaybird run review xiao j adventures
First, let me introduce the brand Jaybird. Many people might not know what this brand is, but it is actually a series of Bluetooth earphones under Logitech, primarily designed for running. The JAYBIRD RUN air true wireless Bluetooth running earphones have just won the 2018 CES Innovation Award. It is said to have a long battery life of up to 12 hours, nano-level sweat resistance, and comfortable wear with multiple accessories, allowing running enthusiasts to run freely without constraints. A simple search will also reveal that these earphones have been endorsed by Li Yifeng and are the same model used by Chen He. The promotional introduction of these earphones is very enticing, so I am particularly looking forward to this review. Due to the long English name of the earphones, I will call them Little J.
My first Bluetooth earphone review came from Codoon, but I almost missed it due to my own negligence. At the last moment, I found the library sister and retrieved Little J. When Codoon sent out the package, Little J began its adventure.
I was very excited when I received the package. The earphone packaging is very cool, and the card from the Codoon review team was very thoughtful, adding a touch of joy.
Opening the package and the earphone case, a sense of high-end earphone nobility hits you. Although Little J is a sports audio brand under Logitech, its design style leans more towards American sports style, apart from the same quality.The main accessories in the package are as follows: a portable rechargeable earphone case, a charging cable, four sets of silicone ear tips and ear wings in different sizes, a manual, and a sticker.
Oh, and I must not forget to mention the magnetic storage bag, after all, it's such a delicate "little leather bag."
Little J has an in-ear design. The control button on the side of the earphone is surrounded by a silver paint strip, and the button itself is inlaid with a silver metal brand logo, giving it a simple and elegant look. Each earphone weighs 6.8g, making it very lightweight and not noticeably heavy when worn on the ears.
In terms of functionality, Little J can play continuously for 4 hours on its own. Additionally, it comes with a portable charging case that can fully charge the earphones twice, providing a total of up to 12 hours of battery life. Notably, the portable charging case features fast charging technology, allowing for 1 hour of playback with just 5 minutes of charging, easily meeting user needs.
Both the left and right earphones are equipped with a single button. The main control functions are concentrated on the right earphone, such as play/pause, answer/end/reject calls, and play the next track, all of which can be operated with one button. The left earphone only has the function of activating voice assistants like Siri or Xiao Ai. Both earphones can control power on/off.
Since these are running earphones, the running experience must be mentioned. I tested it three times: during the Beijing Marathon LSD, the Haihe Run, and the 2018 Beijing Marathon. The earphones fit closely to the ears during wear, and there was no shaking or risk of falling off while running.
Summary of Little J's advantages:
Portable charging is very convenient, with the earphones being chargeable about three times, providing up to 12 hours of battery life;
Ergonomic design is reasonable, with a snug fit;
Nano-level sweat resistance design;
Multiple accessories to meet the needs of different ear shapes;
Can be used with a single earphone (dual use is not affected, and it is said that multiple earphones can synchronize and share), the left earphone can summon voice assistants, which is very considerate and user-friendly;
Supports MySound software control, with intelligent anti-lost positioning.
Summary of Little J's disadvantages:
The single earphone usage time is about four hours, which is just enough for me to run a full marathon, but for slower runners, the battery life might be an issue;
Bluetooth pairing is unstable, occasionally disconnecting;
The manual is not detailed enough, basic operations of the earphones can be understood, but there can be interference operations between the left and right earphones;
All-English voice prompts are not user-friendly, and there should be a Chinese version of the prompts;
There is a delay in earphone synchronization (about 0.5 seconds);
Switching steps are cumbersome when connecting multiple devices.
Overall, this is a relatively "burden-free" pure sports earphone. Personally, I feel that the biggest drawbacks might be the delay and the relatively high price, but other than that, it is quite satisfactory as a sports earphone.
Currently, Little J is available on Tmall for 999 yuan. Interested runners can check it out.
