free roaming kailas lightweight travel jacket review

As the seasons change and the weather cools down, plaid shirts have taken over screens. With the arrival of winter, outdoor jackets are also about to take the stage. For professional outdoor sports enthusiasts, outdoor jackets are essential. Their lightweight, warm, windproof, and waterproof features are attracting more and more ordinary people to try them. Just as programmers like to wear plaid shirts, outdoor jackets are also a favorite among programmers.

Due to this trend, the outdoor brand Kailas has launched the 2x3 set, which includes 2 outdoor jackets and 3 inner jackets, creating 6 different outfits for both urban and outdoor activities.

Although it's a set, the clothes can be purchased separately and worn individually. This article is a standalone test of the lightweight travel outdoor jacket.

Kailas, named after the sacred Mount Kailash in Tibet, is a professional outdoor brand that adheres to the philosophy of 'pursuing freedom and exploring the unknown.' They produce excellent products that allow outdoor enthusiasts to fully discover and challenge their limits. The brand sponsors various professional outdoor events, including mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, and trail running challenges, providing strong support for the popularization and development of mountaineering and outdoor sports in China.

'Only for Climbing / Not just mountaineering and rock climbing / But also a proactive attitude towards life / Whether climbing an 8,000-meter peak or the Everest of dreams / We care about reaching the summit / But we care more about the scenery along the way and the companions by our side / In the choices between life and death, advance and retreat / We find our truest selves.'

This text printed on the packaging represents the brand spirit of Kailas.

The extended version of the lightweight travel outdoor jacket comes in 5 colors for men and 4 colors for women. The one shown in the picture is olive gray (color may vary due to lighting), size L, weighing about 420g. The jacket features a three-dimensional cut and a very proper fit.

'FILTERTEC,' the technology fabric used in the jacket, provides windproof, waterproof, and thermal insulation.

The jacket is wear-resistant and scratch-resistant. Thanks to its 'bare' design, meaning it is molded in one piece without extra decorations or seams, it is less likely to get caught on branches and thorns during outdoor activities.

The waterproof performance is evident as water forms beads on the surface of the jacket and does not penetrate, thanks to the waterproof breathable membrane on the surface.

For specific waterproof conditions, you can watch the video at the end of the article.

Thermal performance: When the jacket is placed over the steam head of a garment steamer, no gas is released from the surface of the jacket. For specific conditions, you can watch the video at the end of the article.

Since the jacket has excellent thermal insulation, it must be designed with ventilation.

Two zipper vents are designed under the armpits of the sleeves, allowing air circulation, which is beneficial for health.

How can an excellent outdoor jacket not have a hood?

Kailas has designed a detachable hood with a small brim at the front. The hood also features adjustable drawstrings at the back and sides, allowing it to wrap tightly around the head.

There is a layer of plastic-like material in the brim, which got creased during transportation and is difficult to restore. This needs improvement.

Thoughtful detail design:

The collar of the jacket is made of cotton, and an extra layer is added near the zipper to effectively avoid skin irritation. If these parts were made of the outer layer material, it would feel cold and abrasive against the skin when the collar is upright.

The zippers on the pockets and underarm vents are treated with adhesive waterproofing, further enhancing the overall waterproof performance of the jacket.

The jacket features a double-headed zipper, allowing you to adjust the opening of the jacket without having to open it completely when it gets hot.

The jacket has an inner zipper, which can be considered an expansion interface. Through the inner zipper, you can wear an inner jacket. Since it is designed as a set, this inner zipper design is normal. However, with this inner zipper, you can theoretically wear other inner jackets as well.

The hem of the jacket also has a tightening device, but the drawstring is designed inside the pocket, ensuring that not a single 'extra' piece is outside the jacket. The release device for the drawstring is also hidden inside the jacket. Initially, it was confusing to use, but once found, it became much smoother.

These detailed designs reflect the brand's professionalism and dedication.

This is a one-minute video I recorded, testing the jacket's windproof, abrasion-resistant, waterproof, and thermal insulation properties. The Kailas lightweight travel outdoor jacket performed very well.

When navigating through the city, jumping from one space to another, the encounters with wind, rain, and snow are often brief. The Kailas lightweight outdoor jacket is your best weapon.
