kailas all weather jacket accompanies me on a li river hiking trip
"Nothing can stop your yearning for freedom..." Just like the lyrics of "Blue Lotus," the author, sitting in a cubicle in an office building, is still filled with anticipation for a spontaneous trip. When I got the opportunity to experience the Kailas Cross All-Weather Travel Jacket provided by Codoon, I planned a trip to Guilin, Guangxi. Let's follow me for a comprehensive experience of the Cross All-Weather Jacket.
The name KAILAS originates from Mount Kailash in Tibet, China, a mountain of spiritual and religious significance. Brian Collins, who yearned to experience life through hiking, came to Nepal in 1968 and began his pilgrimage to KAILAS. He improved traditional outdoor gear and founded KAILAS, incorporating the concept of "lightweight" into his products. "Only for climbing" is the brand slogan of KAILAS.
First, let's do a simple unboxing. The Cross All-Weather Jacket can be worn on both sides, one side is ink-colored camouflage, and the other side is solid black. The double-sided design can cope with different usage scenarios, whether it's outdoor camouflage or office solid color, both have a heart for adventure.
The Cross All-Weather Jacket uses Kailas's independently developed technological fabric. This is an innovative fabric technology that does not have an outer layer of fabric but uses a glued layer to block wind and rain, significantly reducing weight while enhancing breathability.
The mesh lining of the Cross All-Weather Jacket is made of polyester fiber fabric, which originally has high strength, good elasticity, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. After treatments like full seam gluing, laser cutting, and washing to soften, the jacket is water-repellent, highly waterproof, breathable, and soft and lightweight to wear, ensuring comfort during outdoor activities.
The Cross All-Weather Jacket features a reflective print design, specifically the KAILAS "Little Sun" logo, which is highly recognizable.
Details are the hard indicators of product craftsmanship. Good detail workmanship is the guarantee of the quality of sports products. For outdoor clothing, the most important thing is the detail handling. Let's focus on the details.
Detail 1: [Integrated Hood and Stand Collar Design]
The Cross All-Weather Jacket features an integrated adjustable hood design. The stand collar and hood are integrated to effectively prevent cold wind and rain from entering during activities. The brim of the Cross All-Weather Jacket is smooth and flat, and the adjustment cord passes through tubular holes on both sides, making it easy to tighten the hood, especially useful in strong winds.
Detail 2: [YKK Brand Zipper]
The Cross All-Weather Jacket uses YKK zippers, which are very smooth during use and do not get stuck. The outer layer of the zipper is treated with waterproof glue, effectively blocking rainwater from seeping in.
At the top of the zipper, there is a corner wrap treatment. This serves two purposes: one is to prevent the zipper from coming off, and the other is to prevent the zipper from scratching the skin on the neck or Adam's apple.
Detail 3: [Underarm and Cuff Design]
The underarm area of the Cross All-Weather Jacket can be unzipped for ventilation at any time, ensuring body heat dissipation and breathability during long periods of activity, which is a common design in current jackets.
The cuffs of the Kailas Cross All-Weather Jacket are designed with quick-fix Velcro. The elastic cuffs provide great convenience for wearing a watch, but the cuffs cannot be adjusted when worn inside out.
Detail 4: [Storage Pocket Design]
This is also my favorite feature of the Kailas Cross All-Weather Jacket. There are large pockets on both sides, which can easily hold a phone and a small storage bag.
The pocket closures use snap buttons, making them easier to open and close while providing some waterproofing. They offer strong storage functionality and increased anti-theft security, which are very user-friendly designs.
Detail 5: [Cutting and Seam Treatment]
The Kailas Cross Jacket uses 3D cutting, with a curved hem and an internal drawstring for adjustment. From the details, the external stitching of the Kailas Cross Jacket is uniform, with some areas using double stitching to ensure reasonable fabric matching and use. The interior workmanship of the Kailas Cross Jacket is delicate, and the seam design is reasonable.
I am 170 cm tall and weigh 62 kg. The size of this Kailas Cross Jacket I am wearing is M for reference.
Outdoor Actual Experience:
The primary function of a jacket is its long-lasting waterproof, windproof, and breathable properties during activities, as well as wearing comfort. I wore the Kailas Cross All-Weather Jacket for hiking and roaming the Li River.
After putting it on, the M size I wore felt relatively slim-fitting, unlike traditional jackets that are usually loose. Personally, I think slim-fitting clothing is more aesthetically pleasing and more suitable for daily wear.
During the ferry ride on the Li River, we encountered local weather with alternating moderate rain and sunny spells, testing the jacket's waterproof, breathable, and windproof effects.
Before boarding the boat, a sudden moderate rain caught us off guard. The plan to enjoy the Li River under clear skies was ruined, but the Kailas Cross All-Weather Jacket had no problem being used as a raincoat. The high-tech fabric of the Cross forms a strong waterproof layer on both sides, effectively causing rainwater to bead up and roll off, showing a significant lotus leaf effect.
On the deck of the boat, the wind coming from the Li River was quite strong, and the Cross All-Weather Jacket performed well in terms of windproofing. When the sun occasionally came out, it also provided sun protection. In terms of rainproof, windproof, and sunproof functions, the Cross All-Weather Jacket is much more effective than ordinary sun-protective clothing. However, it is recommended for use below 20 degrees Celsius, as higher temperatures may cause stuffiness.
Outdoor enthusiasts often experience heavy sweating during continuous activities, especially when traversing forests. Carrying a backpack increases upper body temperature and sweat, testing the jacket's moisture-wicking and breathability. During the entire forest trek, I did not experience excessive sweating in the chest, back, or underarms, thanks to its excellent breathability and moisture-wicking properties.
Summary:
After two weeks of accompanying me on hiking and forest trekking in the Li River, I believe the Kailas Cross All-Weather Jacket is very suitable for outdoor trips in spring, autumn, and early summer. Its double-sided wearing function has both outdoor connotations and a fashionable appearance. As long as it's not in extremely hot or cold seasons, it can be used for outdoor trips, providing windproof, rainproof, and sun protection. For those who care about the appearance of their jackets and have travel plans, consider getting one.
